Highways
Macon County, Tennessee, is located just 35 miles (56 km) from I-65, the major north-south route from Mobile, Alabama, to Chicago, Illinois.

Lafayette and Red Boiling Springs are on Tennessee Highway 52 which connects it to Interstate 65 on the west. Lafayette is also on Tennessee Highway 10 which connects to US Highway 231 and Interstate 40 on the south. Tennessee Highway 10 is currently being rebuilt to connect to I-40 and to Tennessee 840, the major controlled-access loop road around Nashville. Red Boiling Springs can also be reached from I-40 by using TN80.

Rail
Macon County is only 60 miles (96 km) from a major CSX sorting yard and hump yard in Nashville.
CSX provides rail service to 20 states, the District of Columbia and Ontario, Canada. CSX serves 27 of the top 50 USA markets and 26 port cities.
Nashville is a major interchange point between Chicago, New Orleans, St. Louis and Atlanta. On an average day, 90 trains and 7,200 cars pass through Nashville. An average of 1,800 railcars are classified in the Radnor hump yard in Nashville; this is one of the largest hump yards in the southeast.
In Nashville, CSX Intermodal has one of the most modern loading/unloading piggyback facilities in the country. Approximately 9,000 containers are handled monthly.
Other Intermodal facilities are located in Knoxville and Chattanooga which are served by CSX and Norfolk Southern.

Navigable Waterways
The Cumberland River has a 9 ft. (2.7 m) channel depth. The nearest port facilities are in Gallatin and Gainesboro.
